The Urban Bloomers International Conference marks the concluding event of Urban Bloomers – Blooming in the City: Education and Co-design for Transforming the City into a Resilient and Biodiverse Ecosystem, an inter- and transdisciplinary research project developed through collaboration among the University of Florence, the Municipality of Florence, the Region of Tuscany, local enterprises, and several national associations.

 

The conference brings together academics, designers, public administrators, innovators, and environmental experts to explore cross-disciplinary perspectives on the future of sustainable cities.
The program features:

  • Institutional greetings and project presentations, introducing the goals, methodology, and outcomes of the Urban Bloomers research;
  • Keynote sessions and talks by leading figures in architecture, design, and biology, focusing on multispecies design, 3D-printed bio-integrated architecture, and urban biodiversity strategies;
  • Thematic round tables and Q&A sessions encouraging dialogue among researchers, policymakers, and practitioners on the potential of co-design and technology for ecological resilience;
  • An exhibition and networking aperitif, showcasing prototypes, models, and design concepts developed during the project.

Combining scientific research, technological innovation, and community engagement, the Urban Bloomers International Conference provides a platform for sharing experiences and envisioning new collaboration models for multi-species, inclusive, and resilient cities.
